Spring Planting

field of dandelions

When the sun is shining and you come across these amazing fields of dandelions everywhere you look, it is hard to suppress the feeling to get your fingers into some dirt and to plant something!

So once I got home I decided today was the day to get some seeds into my balcony pots - maybe they will be safe from the frost - well here is hoping!

I will be vigilantly covering these pots with fleece and will be keeping fingers crossed that they stay warm enough to start an early sprouting season.

In the various pots I have planted pumpkins, peas, gem-squash, dill, basil, sage, rosemary, parsley, bell peppers, tomatoes, chili and bush-beans.
I also have filled my balcony boxes with some hanging and summer flowers.

Stefan has added some conduit piping to our SFG so that we can plant our seeds this week and cover them with plastic so as to jump start our growing season.

As you can see in the image we have only one beehive at the moment, I have removed the other one so that I can sand and repaint it before the bees start to swarm.

Have you started your planting season yet?

  1. Sun was shinning here in chamonix this morning too. Put in our first raised bed this weekend and hoping to get some seeds started in the week.
